Ginetta rookie and Mazda champ stuns at Donington Park for Rob Boston Racing

The Ginetta GT4 Supercup season continued at Donington Park on the Easter weekend for Charlie Ladell and BRSCC 2016 MX5 Champion Tom Roche.

Tom was extended the race invitation by Rob Boston as Jack Mitchell couldn't make the meeting due to British GT Championship commitments.

Tom got to grips with the Ginetta for the very first time in practice sessions on Thursday and put in a very creditable P5 in the Saturday morning qualifying session. For Race 1 (Round 4 of the Supercup Challenge) later on the Saturday afternoon, Tom achieved a fantastic 2nd place podium and also posted the fastest lap of the race.  Charlie Ladell also impressed, claiming 3rd place just behind Tom, making this his 2nd podium finish already is his rookie year in the Supercup Championship.

On Sunday morning Race 2 started at 10:40am and we were delighted to see Tom the race winner after a stunning overtake into Redgate, then proceeding to lead the field for most of the race! The reverse grid system meant that Tom started Race 3 in P5 on the grid, a tricky position right in the middle of the action.  It was a closely fought race in wet conditions and Tom finished in 4th place, with consistently quick lap times and gaining valuable experience in the Ginetta race car.

With 2 podium finishes in 3 races in his very first meeting in the Ginetta race car, Tom has certainly made an impression in the field and everyone at Rob Boston Racing looks forward to working with him again in the season.

The Ginetta GT4 Supercup Championship continues on the 20th/21st May at Oulton Park.
